Ways to Pray

Prayer Ideas and Helps

Here's a simple formula to structure your prayers:  A.C.T.S.  Using this can help you remember all the things that should be included in your prayer life.

A - Adoration - praise God for who God is
C - Confession - own up to our sins
T - Thanksgiving - thank God for all God has done
S - Supplication - make requests for ourselves and others

The Five Fingers of Prayer

The Five Fingers of Prayer method starts by telling us "Your thumb is nearest to you, so begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a 'sweet duty'".   Then the poem goes on to list each finger and what types of people on our prayer list to include.  Read the entire poem Five Fingers of Prayer

Keep a prayer journal

ELCA has a new prayer website which features, among other things, a meditation area and suggestions for use which is quite beautiful.  Click on their button to go there now.  Use your browser's back space to return to us.

Jump Start Your Prayer Life

"Many Christians believe in prayer, but need a jump start. Here are seven ways you can jump start your prayer life in order to grow a more intimate relationship between you and God. Select a couple of them to implement in your life starting this week." http://www.elca.org/prayer/resources/jump.html
